Coffee shops and tearooms have been around for centuries and are still as popular, even more so, today.
London is home to an ever-growing number of excellent independent establishments, many of which have found their way into David Hampshire’s useful and informative book London’s Cafes, Coffee Shops & Tearooms – to which he has sensibly added examples of places where it is also possible to take Afternoon Tea, and others offering that useful, and tasty meal – Brunch.
Each of the establishments listed comes with its own small illustration, along with mentions of various house specialities, opening hours, etc, and, where applicable, interesting anecdotes.
Much to our delight several of our favourites are included, but they are far outnumbered by those we don’t know and now want to try. This is definitely a book worthy of being added to the backpack for London outing days.
