In our Check Out column we feature a range of ales produced by Thwaites, award winning brewers. We thought this particular recipe using Wainwright, one of their most popular ales, sounded quick, straightforward and tasty.

Ingredients:

Pork loin steaks
½ pint Wainwright
2 medium onions – chopped
500ml apple sauce
1 tbsp dried sage
Salt and pepper
2 garlic cloves
Butter For frying

Method:

Fry onions and garlic until soft, add sage, salt and pepper and chicken stock and bring back to the boil. Add the beer and simmer gently for 15 minutes. Add the apple sauce and thicken.
Pan fry the pork loin steaks. To serve pour some of the sauce over the pork and accompany with roasted potatoes and vegetables.
