Our hotel’s restaurant, that evening in July 2013, was noisy and crowded so we headed off down the road to see what else the neighbourhood had to offer for our evening meal.
We had only gone about 50 yards before we came across the Best Western Jasper Inn & Suites: its bar and on-site restaurant across the courtyard from Reception. We went in for a drink.
Bar Manager Rob made us so welcome and as the restaurant looked nice we stayed on for dinner. Rob introuduced us on to Jesse Lent, restaurant manager, and between the two guys we were handsomely looked after. We decided to eat indoors, but we did notice that tables were also set on an attractive looking covered garden terrace.
The salad starter was lovely and the home-smoked salmon, served with beautifully cooked fresh vegetables was delicious. Evidently the chef likes to encourage guests to eat and enjoy healthy vegetables! The guys also introduced us to wine from the King Family winery in Oregon – a 2010 Pinot Noir – and very good it was too. The menu, we discovered, changes seasonally. Entrees $15 – $32.
It is a shame that this Best Western doesn’t promote its restaurant more, it certainly deserves better recognition.
