A Postcard From… Boulogne

A few weeks back we drove to Boulogne.

Couldn’t understand why all our favourite early morning Eurotunnel departure times were fully booked mid-week.   However, we were so determined to go during one of the few sunny spells, that we booked the one remaining slot – check-in 05:18.   Soon found out why.   We were one of the few cars without Le Mans 24 Hour stickers.   They of course disappeared in a cloud of smoke, leaving us to pootle along and hole up until the wine merchant opened  (and the Patisseries and the chocolate shops, etc, etc!)

Half way through the morning we took a break on the Quay Gambetta, where the trawlers had just come in.   The catch was being sorted and any undersize fish were being thrown to the gulls.   Hence the Happy Gull picture.   No squabbles; they all had one each.

Feeding the robin when we got home, seemed a bit effete.
