Book Review – Catherine’s Italian Kitchen

by Catherine Fulvio

Famous in Ireland for her television cookery programmes as well as her cookery school at the family farm, Ballyknocken House in Wicklow, Catherine Fulvio has produced her first cookery book. Summers spent near Palermo with her Sicilian husband and their children have influenced her choice of recipes, collected from family and friends. Among them are Sicilian favourites such as Caponata (an aubergine, olive, celery and tomato starter) and arancini (stuffed, deep fried rice balls). Snacks and drinks are also included.

Catherine has adapted her favourite Italian recipes to suit Irish tastes changing an ingredient here and there. A nice touch for each recipe is a personal introduction and a postscript offering a tip or twist. Catherine’s enthusiasm and passion for food is stamped on every page.
