Cape Grace located beside its own private quay on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront deserves every one of its five stars.
Large, elegantly-furnished, bedrooms look out over to Table Mountain or onto the Waterfront with its bustling harbour and yacht marina. The beds with their top quality bed linen are supremely comfortable and the rooms with their fresh flowers and books contain everything a guest could require. The marble bathrooms with their separate bath and showers have upmarket toiletries. One guest on requesting a mat to place inside the bath was astonished when within five minutes a smiling young man appeared carrying a choice of three!
Décor throughout the hotel is a happy marriage of traditional and contemporary where antiques and old artefacts blend with modern custom-made metal, glass and leather items.
From 5pm guests can be seen gathering in the Library to indulge in a glass of port or sherry before taking dinner in the award-winning Signal Restaurant. The restaurant, under the supervision of Executive Chef Malika van Reenen, draws on local and international cuisine with much of the produce provided by local farmers.
Breakfast is served in Signal, and light lunches are taken in Bascule which transforms itself at night into a celebrated Whisky, Wine and Cocktail Bar. Whisky lovers are in their element as Bascule has over 400 whiskies to choose from.
The African inspired spa offers a selection of spa treatments and products, based on the ancient secrets of the Kalahari Desert.
And for guests who want to explore a little further afield than the local shops, bars, restaurants and attractions Cape Grace provides private transfers within a 20 kilometre radius, including town and local beaches.
