Lost Lanes

Lost Lanes reminds us of the joy we used to experience as children setting off for the day on our bikes round narrow Hertfordshire lanes. We didn’t think that lanes like them existed any longer. Yet Jack Thurston has managed to discover 36 lanes and byways in Southern England still waiting to be enjoyed – be they for a gentle spin, part of a camping trip or for the more energetic, hill climbs.

The book includes a section on ‘Best for …’ – anything from wild camping to pubs or swimming to families. Then follows a county-by-county selection of beautifully researched and written up routes, complete with a map and suggestions for places to stop for a meal or a drink. The photography is lovely too.
