Opera at Uluru

Saturday 2 November 2019 will be a night to remember when Opera Australia, in conjunction with Tourism NT and Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia, presents for the first time ever an exclusive concert held under the stars in the spiritual heart of Australia with Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and Bruce Munro’s Field of Light Uluru as the backdrop.

A gala concert

During the gala concert, some of Opera Australia’s finest singers will perform arias from Bizet, Puccini, Rossini, Verdi and more, accompanied by a chamber orchestra and conducted by Tahu Matheson.

As the sun sets over the desert backdrop, the evening will be illuminated by the 50,000 glass spheres of Bruce Munro’s Field of Light Uluru.

Closure of the Uluru climb

The event will take place one week after the closure on 26 October 2019 of the Uluru climb.

The date, chosen to close the climb permanently, is of huge significance to Anangu , the traditional owners of Uluru-Kata Tjuita, given that it marks the date in 1985 when Uluru and the Kata Tjuta were handed back to them.

Packages start from $750 per person twin share and include two nights’ accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort, breakfast daily, return airport transfers and a ticket to the performance.
