I just loved the new Oyster Inn in Oneroa village on Waiheke Island – the guys that own it and run it are really dedicated and obviously love what they’re doing – the menu is unpretentious but that adds to its charm.
Food is fresh, seasonal and very tasty and presented in a simple but appealing way – something for kids as well as the more sophisticated foody. As its name suggests, The Oyster Inn offers a selection of New Zealand’s finest and freshest oysters, as well as a dedicated ‘raw produce’ bar and a seasonal menu including local fish (with triple cooked chips). Other dishes include classic oyster rolls, snapper ‘sliders’ and perennial favourite, spaghetti ‘vongole’. The location overlooking the bay is stunning and the whole feel is like being in someone’s extended ‘bach’ house and having Sunday lunch…YUM! They have three guest rooms too! K.L.
