The Suffolk-based Food Safari runs a programme of food and drink courses and events that go further than a traditional cookery school. On a Food Safari there is the opportunity to meet the experts and learn new skills, as well as sampling delicious food and drink. In 2012 it won UK Cookery School Awards Best Day Course and the Suffolk Food & Drink Awards Pride of Suffolk; and were finalists in the British Cookery School Awards Best Use of Local Ingredients.
2013 sees Food Safari including new courses in London, Derbyshire, Lancashire and Cambridgeshire.
London courses cover artisan food and drink producers such as Sipsmith gin, The London Honey Company (renowned for their hives on top of the Tate galleries, Fortnam and Masons and Harrods), Urban Foraging, and England Preserves who will run seasonal preserving workshops.
The first Lancashire Food Safari courses will be a fun hands-on game butchery session Game in a Day at new farm shop Roaming Roosters, near Burnley. Learn all about great British game – its seasons, hanging, preparation and cookery and prepare your own pheasant, mallard and rabbit to take home at the end of the course. Similar courses are available in Suffolk and Derbyshire. www.foodsafari.co.uk
