New York Soup Co.

One of our favourite lunches is a bowl of homemade soup, a hunk of cheese and some fresh bread or crispy crackers. But all too often these days, we’ve just not had time to get the stockpot out and make a vat of soup.

So it was really nice to come across the New York Soup Co’s range of soups: there’s a good variety to choose from including Skinnies and Fully Loaded. The soups are inspired by the range of ingredients used in the many cuisines that come together in New York City – but with a twist!

We enjoyed the Limited Edition Smokey Bacon & Herby Tomato Soup – 140 calories per serving. The Limited Edition soups are seasonal and celebrate key American events – this one the US Super Bowl.

The Fully Loaded soups are just that – a meal in themselves – with lots of with chunky ingredients. The BBQ Pulled Pork and Bean Soup with plenty of red peppers and pinto beans mixed in with the pulled pork (160 calories per serving) was very satisfying. And we also liked the Skinnies New England Butternut Squash – a mere 123 calories per serving. (We did find this one a tad sweet for our palate, but a squeeze of lemon and twist of black pepper did the trick for us.)

The soups retail at £2.20 for a 600g tub.
