We spent a lovely half term on Dartmoor with an amazing lunch at the Riverford Organics Field Kitchen near Totnes.
Very relaxed (wellies welcome – necessary when you have just been round the farm seeing all the fruit and veggies growing!) and lots of children – who eat for £9.95. You share tables and they put everything on the table – so there is no ordering. They just cook what is seasonal. Which pud to choose has been the hardest decision of the year so far – they were all amazing – rhubarb pavlova, sticky toffee, apple crumble, lemon mascarpone cheesecake and chocolate and almond torte. Heaven! Giles Coren described it as the lunch of his life and I would agree. I’ve just received my 2nd organic box of veg from them. I was inspired. T.M.
